San Francisco, August 20: Elon Musk's Tesla has started hiring people to work on its humanoid robot project. The company has upgraded the Tesla Optimus robot many times to make it suitable for human use. Now, Tesla is reportedly paying people to train these robots via motion capture. The training will make these robots more friendly and work-efficient, but that may require a large amount of data.

Just like the motion capture in 3D movies, Elon Musk's company is hiring people to wear motion capture suits (mocap) to train the robot and help it mimic the moves they make, as per a report by The Verge. Following this training, the Tesla humanoid robot is expected to perform the movements of the person wearing the mocap. The company has posted the "Data Collection Operator" position on the official website as a career option. The Data Collector Operator will have to walk around with 30 pounds along with a VR headset for seven hours every day. The company has also outlined the employees' heights to be 5.7 and 5.11 feet long, similar to Optimus' likely height of 5.8 feet. For this position, Tesla already hired 50 people last year who have done the same work to train the robot.

Tesla Optimus robot has been seen handling delicate tasks very carefully due to its use of advanced technology and constant upgrades. With motion capture, the robot could mimic human-like movements with the same accuracy, making it more like a person. The Verge said that the motion capture technique is the most effective way to train robots to perform tasks by making human-like movements. Indian Government To Release Draft Rules Under 'Digital Personal Data Protection Act' Within a Month, Says Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Tesla reportedly is one of the first companies to use it to an extensive level for its humanoid robots. The report cited that Animesh Garg, a senior researcher at NVIDIA Research, said that the Tesla Optimus humanoid robot would likely require millions of hours of data before putting it to the factory for work.
