On the other hand, the reports say that companies like Infosys may wait to hire students. According to reports, TCS usually employs about 30,000 to 40,000 employees annually. As per the recent statement by TCS COO, the company may not lay off employees in the coming months. As per reports, TCS currently has over 60,000 employees ready to work.
When hiring new candidates, companies like Tata Consultancy Services prefer Campus hiring. As per the report, the company has no plans for large-scale layoffs but to hire freshers. Infosys CFO Niranjan Roy has stated that Infosys already hired nearly 50,000 employees last year, and this year, they will only prefer campus hiring once they get higher demand. Tata Consultancy Services, as per reports, has a strategic approach when it comes to hiring candidates. The TCS COO Subramaniam states that they hire fewer candidates when there is a contraction in discretionary spending. He further says that the company saw huge attrition in the past 12 to 14 months but ended up hiring a lot more than needed. According to the reports, the current utilization of TCS is around 85%, which used to be 87% to 90%. As per reports, Subramaniam emphasized that the company prepared for higher demand. The reports say that Infosys is not looking for new students to hire as the company already has a significant fresher bench ready to meet the demand in the market.
