Mumbai, July 16: TCS aims to add more employees to its workforce, especially freshers, amid its focus on upskilling and reskilling. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) successfully brought back 70% of the employees to work from the office under the new variable pay policy. The attendance policy compelled the employees to work from the office if they wanted to get the variable quarterly bonus.

According to a new report by India Today, Tata Consultancy Services plans to hire 40,000 freshers to expand its workforce. Last month, the Indian IT company reportedly added 5,452 employees, which increased the total workforce count to 6,06,998. Milind Lakkad, TCS CHRO, further added that "India is the destination for the talent" and that this will not change in the near future. The report highlighted that the IT company aimed to bridge the gap between academia and industry with the help of upskilling and reskilling. It said that these initiatives were designed to assist the employees to be adapt with the new technologies and new roles. 

Further, the TCS Chief HR Officer expressed that he was confident about the positive way forward with talent in India. He further said that the employees of Tata Consultancy Services had been skilling faster with new advancements in AI. The return of 70% of employees to the office through the new policy made the work of Tata Consultancy Services easier. Milind Lakkad said that it was not a punitive measure but a last measure. If the employees do not understand, then the company may make a decision in one, two, or three quarters.
