New Delhi, July 31: Spotify, the music streaming platform, is reportedly restoring full access to song lyrics for its free users. The change comes after a period during which only paying subscribers could enjoy unrestricted access to Spotify lyrics. Free users were limited to viewing lyrics for three songs per month. Now, Spotify lyrics are said to be back for everyone, allowing all users to see the lyrics for any song they play. The update should enhance the music streaming experience for all Spotify users, regardless of their subscription status.

As per a report of Engadget, Spotify lyrics are back for free users. Previously in May, Spotify had rolled out a test requiring a paid subscription to access lyrics, which faced backlash. Free users could only view lyrics for three songs a month, which led to dissatisfaction among the user base. CEO Daniel Ek mentioned during a recent earnings call that plans were in place to improve the experience for free users. The restoration of unrestricted lyrics access appears to be part of this initiative. GitHub Mobile New Update: Developer Platform Rolls Out Update That Allows Users To Manually Trigger Workflow on the Go.

Initially, the restriction was seen as a strategy to push free users to upgrade to paid subscriptions, which start at USD 11 per month. However, the strategy faced criticism and user dissatisfaction. In response to the backlash, Spotify has reportedly taken the decision to remove the cap on Spotify lyrics viewing for free users. As per reports, a Spotify spokesperson stated that the platform is constantly testing and iterating its features across different subscription tiers, markets and devices. OpenAI Rolls Out Advanced Voice Mode With More Natural, Real-Time Conversations, Available To Select ChatGPT Plus Users.

The upcoming change will allow all users to view Spotify lyrics without any limitations. "We are prioritising enhancements in our free product pipeline that based on existing performance in certain markets," said, CEO Daniel Ek. He further mentioned that additional improvements will be integrated into their free experience in the upcoming months.
