New Delhi, September 4: Sony is shutting down its first-person hero shooter game, Concord, just two weeks after its launch on the PlayStation 5 (PS5) platform on August 23, 2024. As per reports, the decision comes as a result of poor sales and a lack of user engagement. Despite initial excitement, Concord reportedly failed to connect with gamers, which led to low engagement and disappointing sales figures. Sony looks to cut its losses, as the company plans to remove the game from PlayStation.

Ryan Ellis, Game Director of Firewalk Studios, announced the shutdown of Concord in an official blog post. The director further stated that after the release of Concord on PlayStation 5 and PC, they realised that it did not have the impact they were hoping for and as a result, they have made the decision to take the game offline starting from September 6, 2024. Apple Glowtime Event: iPhone 16 Series, Apple Intelligence, iOS 18, Apple Watch X; Know What Else Is Coming on September 9.

The game, which was developed over eight years and priced at USD 40, failed to compete against popular free-to-play titles like Overwatch and Valorant, as per a report of The Verge. The lack of unique features contributed to its disappointing performance. The company acknowledged that while some aspects of Concord were found favourable with players but many elements did not meet expectations.

Concord Refund Details

The company have decided to stop selling Concord and will provide a complete refund to all players who have bought the game for PS5 or PC. If a user has bought the game for PlayStation 5 from the PlayStation Store or PlayStation Direct, the refund will be given back to the original payment method. Customers who purchased Concord from other digital storefronts will also be eligible for a refund. Steam Store and Epic Games Store will refund players who bought the game in the next few days. Steam store will send a confirmation of the refund once it has been processed. If you bought Concord from the PlayStation Store or PlayStation Direct, it may take around 30-60 days for the refund to show up on your bank statement. If the original payment method is not available, the refund will be given as credit to your PSN wallet. Customers who purchased a physical copy of the game from a retailer other than PlayStation, please follow the refund process provided by the retailer to get your refund. Once the refund is issued, you will no longer be able to access the game.
