Mumbai, July 29: Qualcomm has confirmed that the annual Snapdragon Summit 2024 will take place in Maui, Hawaii, from October 21 to 23. The global chipmaker said, "It’s happening. Qualcomm Oryon, the incredible CPU behind Snapdragon X Series, is coming to our next-gen 8-series mobile platform" And then said to be ready for next-generation of mobile gaming. According to reports, the company will launch the highly anticipated flagship processor - Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, during the Qualcomm Snapdragon October Event.
According to a report by ABP Live, Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 series processors will feature a new Oryon CPU architecture. The Qualcomm Oryon architecture powers the company's Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus processors. Currently, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is among the most powerful processors in the smartphone market, offering over 2.2 million AnTuTu scores. The report said that the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 would cross around 3 million AnTuTu benchmark, offering powerful performance compared to its predecessor. The new processor will be 30% more efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
ABP Live said that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 would be a powerhouse and built at half the budget of MediaTek Dimensity 9300. Besides performance, the new mobile platform is expected to offer better AI processing through its advanced NPU (neural processing unit). Smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 would likely offer LPDDR6 RAM to better manage multitasks.
Just like last year, when the Xiaomi 14 became the first smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, this year, the Xiaomi 15 will reportedly be the first smartphone to have the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. Following this, other smartphone companies, including iQOO, OnePlus, and the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, will likely introduce their devices with the same processor in 2024 and 2025. In addition to the Snapdragon Summit 2024 in October, the chipmaker announced that it will introduce a new chip in India for budget smartphones. The event in India will also focus on the highlights of Snapdragon X series chipsets used in Windows+Copilot PCs.
