It’s confirmed! Snapchat is working on second generation spectacles. Though the first generation spectacles sales were not really spectacular, there is no reason to not believe that it may this time create a hysteria in the market.
Snap Inc., the parent company of Snapchat is getting ready to come out with the second generation spectacles soon as confirmed by the FCC and spotted by Variety first.
The FCC documents mentions a “wearable video camera”. Techradar reported that the second generation spectacles will support 802.11 ac Wi-Fi and come equipped with Bluetooth 4.2 which will enable faster file transfers.
Snapchat did not really have it easy selling the first generation spectacles as reported earlier. Reports indicate that there might be two versions of the spectacles and the basic version would cost anywhere around $200 with the advanced version costing above $300. It is a bold move by Snapchat which is trying to attract and retain users as Instagram gains foothold among its consumer base. Remains to be seen if fans are ready for another high-tech update.
