Santa Monica, October 1: Snapchat has rolled out a new feature called "Footsteps" for all users without any announcement. This new feature allows users to track their location history. The Snapchat Footstep feature was previously available only to Snapchat+ subscribers. This feature helps app users explore how much exploration of the world they have completed and track where they travelled.

For first-time usage, the Footsteps feature, according to a report by TechCrunch, will be based on the Snaps in Memories remembering past trips. After that, the instant messaging platform will not use the feature via Memories but start tracking the individual's travels with the help of location data. Elon Musk Advises X Users To Avoid Overusing Bold Fonts, Says Platform Will Remove Such Posts From Main Timeline.

Snapchat's Footsteps feature will work well if the users have not turned on the "Ghost Mode" in their app. If enabled, it will stop the users from letting the messaging app track their travels using location data. The report highlighted that Snapchat introduced this new feature to compete with rivals like TikTok and Instagram.

Snapchat is also reportedly developing Snap Map, which may make it different from  Instagram's Friends Map feature. The Footsteps feature was rolled out on the platform early for the plus users, offering them the Map details. The users were able to use their Memories with location attached to them and backfill their Footsteps, and later, they were able to use them without accessing the Memories. How To Delete Facebook Account Temporarily or Permanently or Without Password? Snapchat's Footsteps feature was accessible by the plus subscribers by going to their Profile and tapping on the Settings options. After that, they needed to scroll down and go to the "Account Settings" section. Then, they needed to access "Map." Following these steps, the users were able to turn off this feature and also clear the history.
