The Snapchat ads will likely appear as unread notifications above messages from friends to allow brands to reach users. As per reports, the development comes as Snapchat seeks to improve its stock price and financial performance.
As per a report of The Verge, Snapchat is going to place sponsored ads next to messages in the main chat tab for the first time. The company will try putting sponsored messages next to chat threads from friends. Snapchat will show ads from brands as unread messages in the main Chat tab. It means that these ads will be placed above messages from your contacts until you interact with them. As per reports these sponsored messages will not disrupt user experience, as they will not trigger push notifications. Users can choose to interact with the ads or ignore them. However, it is not clear how easy it will be to remove these ads without opening them or if it will even be possible to do so.
