New Delhi, July 1: India’s first human mission which is yet to be operational and it can have PM Narendra Modi flying into space, according to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman S Somnath. The ISRO chairman also told NDTV in an interview that it would take great pride in having the ability to send head of state to space. It means that there could be a possibility of Prime Minister Modi actually flying into space during the Gaganyaan space program, which is expected to be an interesting chapter in India’s history of space exploration.
As per a report of Business Today, ISRO Chairman S Somnath mentioned that PM Narendra Modi might be a part of the historic Gaganyaan space program. The possibility of PM Modi flying to space has added a new aspect to the mission, which is likely to generate excitement and anticipation among the public and the scientific community. What Is the Gaganyaan Space Program?
As per multiple reports, Gaganyaan, is the Indian manned orbital spacecraft and it will be the first in the country’s human spaceflight program. The spacecraft is designed to carry a crew of three persons, while a future improved version will allow for docking with other spaceships. The first crewed Gaganyaan mission is expected to last for 24 hours in space and complete 16 orbits around the Earth. The missions include:
- An unmanned mission to orbit, spend time in orbit and return
- A test about equipment and algorithm
- A test to check the launch pad scenario
ISRO Chairman S. Somanath stated that the first test flight of the Gaganyaan mission is planned for the end of next year, but also mentioned that the timeline depends on ISRO’s progress.
