New Delhi, August 24: Chandrayaan 3 has written a new chapter in the history of Indian space exploration success. Making the country proud, and ending all the Indians’ anticipations regarding the moon craft, Chandrayaan 3 has successfully made its soft landing on the South Pole of the Moon, making India the first country in the world to achieve this feat.

As part of ISRO’s moon mission, Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh on July 14, 2023, and entered the lunar orbit on August 5. After making a series of crucial manoeuvres for weeks, Chandrayaan 3’s lander named Vikram has finally successfully made the highly anticipated soft landing on the surface of the moon. Chandrayaan-3 Mission Moon Success: They’ve Made Entire Nation Proud, Says CJI DY Chandrachud.

Chandrayaan 3 – India’s Moon Mission

Chandryaan 3’s mission is almost same as that of its predecessor Chandrayaan 2, whose lander with the same name unfortunately crashed on moon on September 6, 2019. However, the spacecraft is still successfully orbiting the moon, and its duration expectation is 7 and half years.

As per ISRO, after its successful touchdown on moon, Pragyan rover came out of Vikram lander and took a stroll on the moon. Over the next 14 days, which is equivalent to one lunar day, the Pragyan rover will study the various elements and conditions on the surface of the moon, and help in studying the Moon's atmosphere, and more. The Pragyan rover will study the various Lunar elements and compositions through its payloads APXS - Alpha Particle X-Ray Spectrometer. Life in Space Changes the Human Immune System.

Chandrayaan 3 - Vikram & Pragyan’s Fate After 14 Days On Moon

As per the reports, after 14 days (one lunar day), moon will get its nightfall that will last for another 14 days due to its slow rotation. As Vikram lander and Pragyan rover work on solar energy, in the lack of sunlight they will become inactive on the lunar night. Hence, Vikran and Pragyan may bid adieu after fourteen days on the lunar surface. Nevertheless, ISRO scientists are hopeful that the lander and rover duo might become active again, when the sun’s rays hit the moon’s surface in the south pole.
