New Delhi, July 14: Samsung is set to launch its first Extended Reality (XR) headset soon. The highly anticipated Samsung XR Headset is likely to change the way users interact with digital content. The first XR Headset from Samsung is a result of a collaboration between Samsung, Qualcomm and Google. Samsung recently unveiled its foldable smartphones, smartwatches, TWS (True Wireless Stereo) earbuds and the Galaxy Ring at the Galaxy Unpacked event. During the event, the company also hinted at the upcoming release of the XR platform.

As per a report of Indian Express, Samsung's upcoming XR platform, codenamed "Moohan", is expected to be accessible to developers starting from October 2024. During Galaxy Unpacked event Rick Osterloh, the senior vice president of Platforms and Devices at Google, said, “We’re collaborating to bring next-generation experiences across Galaxy products from smartphones and wearables to even future technologies like the upcoming XR platform we’ve been working closely to develop in partnership with Samsung and Qualcomm.”

Multiple reports also suggest that Samsung is potentially leading the way in introducing smart glasses that might run on Google's operating system for augmented reality (AR). It is rumoured that Google is currently testing prototypes of “Moohan”, equipped with a Qualcomm chipset. According to reports, Samsung has officially announced that their upcoming XR headset will use a Qualcomm chip. It might be powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2, which is stated as its most advanced processor for virtual reality headsets. Despite this confirmation, there have been hints and speculations about the introduction of a new chip, the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 3.
