Samsung, the Korean tech major kick-off the Unpacked 2019 event by unfolding the future to unveil its first foldable phone. Putting all rumours to rest, the company on Wednesday revealed the much hyped Galaxy Fold in San Francisco. Launched at a starting price of $1980, the new Galaxy Fold will be made available from April 26, 2019 onwards. The new Samsung Galaxy Fold will come in four exciting shades - Cosmos Black, Space Silver, Martian Green and Astro Blue. The foldable smartphone from Samsung gets world’s first Dynamic AMOLED Infinity Flex display that ensures multi-tasking at an ease. When unfolded, the device flaunts a massive 7.3-inch display which can be folded into a compact device with a screen size of 4.6-inch. Under the hood, the phone packs a 7nm processor that is clubbed with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of ROM (UFS 3.0). The device will be offered in both 4G version and 5G version.

The Galaxy Fold also comes with 6 cameras wherein three shooters are positioned at the back and two inside. At the front, there is one single camera for selfies and video calling. The triple camera setup at the rear comprises of 12MP wide-angle lens, 12MP telephoto lens and 16MP ultra-wide camera. While the front snapper is a 10MP selfie shooter, the two cameras packed inside the phone are 10MP and 8MP cameras for selfie and depth sensing respectively. The foldable phone from Samsung also gets fingerprint scanner, which is positioned at the side, like Galaxy S10e. However, the Galaxy Fold misses out on memory expansion as a microSD slot is not offered. Initially, the Galaxy Fold will be offered with AT&T and T-Mobile in the US, as per the company.

Galaxy Fold introduces a completely new category that unlocks new capabilities never seen before with our Infinity Flex Display." He further continued by stating, "We created Galaxy Fold for those that want to experience what a premium foldable device can do, beyond the limitations of a traditional smartphone."
