Samsung Electronics is all set to launch the new Galaxy A6 and A6+ smartphones in India today at an event in the city of Mumbai. The company has already sent out invites for the launch event, it is also speculated that the Korean smartphone maker could also launch the new Galaxy J series smartphones alongside the new A6 and A6+ smartphones. Likely to be called as Galaxy J4 and Galaxy J6, the smartphones are likely to sport an Infinity Display which was hinted in the official invite itself. Moreover, the prices for the new Galaxy A6 and A6+ were leaked ahead of their official launch on the internet wherein the Galaxy A6 could get a starting price of Rs. 18,990 whereas the bigger A6+ might see a price starting at Rs. 22,990. On the specification front, both the A6 series smartphones will carry an Infinity Display and ultra-thin bezels while A6 gets a 5.6-inch display whereas A6+ will sport a 6-inch screen with aspect ratio of 18.5:9.
The new Galaxy A6+ will be offered in 2 variants - 3GB RAM/32GB Storage and 4GB RAM/64GB storage expandable to 256GB which will be powered by a 1.8Ghz octa-core processor, however, the company has not revealed the processor yet for the India-spec unit. As far as the photography is concerned, the smartphone will sport dual rear camera featuring 16MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture and 5MP secondary shooter with f/1.9 aperture. The front camera on the device will be a 24MP shooter for selfies and video calling. The new Galaxy A6 smartphone will be packed with a 1.6 Ghz octa-core processor up to 4GB of RAM, up to 64GB storage expandable to up to 256GB, 16MP rear camera, 16MP front camera, 3000 mAh, Android 8.0 Oreo and more. On the other hand, the new Galaxy J6 smartphone will be packed with a 5.6-inches HD+ display, Exynos 7870 octa-core processor up to 4GB RAM, 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, a 3000 mAh battery and much more. The smaller smartphone in the Galaxy J series – J4 smartphone is expected to carry a 5.5-inch HD display with 16:9 of aspect ratio. However, the smartphone is likely to ditch the infinity display. The company will reveal the exact prices for the smartphone today which is expected to be priced under Rs. 15,000. With Galaxy J6, Samsung is looking to penetrate in the mid-range smartphone segment which is currently dominated by Xiaomi with its products like Redmi 5 and Redmi 5A series.
