Seoul, Oct 25: South Korean tech giant Samsung has introduced its new flagship processor, Exynos 990 aimed at future devices that will require more power for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 5G communications. It is manufactured on the 7nm EUV process and will be 20 per cent faster and more power-efficient than its predecessors Exynos 9820 and Exynos 9825. Exynos 990 processor include support for a 4K UHD display, 108MP camera and 8K video recording, the company said in a statement on Thursday. Additionally, the company has also announced the 5G Exynos Modem 5123 chip that is also based on the 7nm EUV process. Samsung says the Exynos Modem 5123 supports a maximum download speed of 5.1 Gbps on sub-6GHz, and 7.35 Gbps on mmWave.

The Modem 5123 is likely to come paired with the Exynos 990 chipsets, which could imply 5G capabilities on all Exynos flagship devices for 2020. The Exynos 990 and Exynos Modem 5123 are expected to begin mass production by the end of this year.
