After making an impact in the Indian telecom space, Reliance Jio is all set to revolutionise the broadband market as well as cable TV space. India's leading telecom operator will also be entering into the direct-to-home market this time. As a reminder, Reliance Jio entered into the telecom space in the year 2016 and since then the company has continued to impact the market with disruptive pricing. The report also highlighted that the company is focusing on its initial plan to commercially roll out GigaFiber before Diwali for tier 1 and 2 markets. As per the report from The Economic Times, the company could launch the plans for JioGigaFiber as low as Rs. 500 per month, which will be 50 per cent lower than the current broadband rates by the cable operator. Moreover, Reliance's high-speed fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband service, which was announced earlier this year comprises of a JioGigaTV set-top box. The registration for Jio GigaFiber broadband service will commence from August 15, and the interested customers can register the same via the official website and MyJio app.

The report further mentioned that the home broadband packs from cable operators are offered around 100GB of data every month with 100 Mbps of speed at Rs 700 to 1000 each month. Additionally, the cable operators also charge Rs. 250-300 per home for TV services. However, Reliance Jio has halved the prices for such a bundled offer as the company is focusing on volumes to drive demand from the market. It is also reported that Gigafiber from Jio is expected to be priced 25-30 per cent lesser than current 4G mobile data rates. Reliance Jio GigaFiber Registration Starts From August 15.

Naveen Kulkarni, telecom analyst at PhillipCapital mentioned that "There can be very limited cannibalisation even if Jio prices fixed broadband (with bundled internet TV services) at 30 per cent below 4G mobile broadband rates as the two data products are very different - one meant for the home user and the other for the person on-the-move." At 41st AGM meeting Mukesh Ambani last month announced that "We will prioritise our JioGigaFiber rollout to those localities from where we receive the highest number of registrations".
