The micro blogging social media giant Twitter, appointed an Indian named Parag Agarwal as its Chief Techical Officer(CTO). Parag Agarwal is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology- Bombay (IIT-B) and Twitter has confirmed his appointment on its website reported Techcircle.

According to the website, as the company's CTO, Agarwal will oversee the machine and artificial intelligence capabilities for Twitter's consumer and revenue products. He will also be in-charge of the infrastructure teams.

Parag has been with Twitter since 2011 and prior to that he had worked for tech giant Microsoft. Parag Agarwal's promotion is yet another proof of the growing importance of Indian techies in global firms. The world's two largest tech firms, Microsoft and Google are led by Indian origin CEO'S. Below are the names of Indians heading some of the largest tech firms in the world:

1. Sundar Pichai, CEO, Google

2. Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft

3. Rajeev Suri, CEO and President, Nokia

4. Shantanu Narayan, CEO, Adobe

5. Sanjay Jha, CEO, Global Foundries

6. George Kurian, CEO and President, NetApp

7. Francisco D'Souza, CEO, Cognizant

8. Dinesh Paliwal, CEO, Harman International

9. Ashok Vemuri, CEO, Conduent Inc

The above names prove that Indians have been doing really well in the tech landscape of the world. The name of Parag Agarwal is a pleasant addition to this list, and goes on to prove the mettle of Indian techies worldwide. That he is an alumni of IIT-Bombay augurs well for India's leading engineering institute. However, over the years, it has been observed that though professionals of Indian origin have done exceptionally well, hardly does any Indian higher institute of learning feature in the leading educational institutes of the world. Maybe our places of learning need to understand and incorporate modern learning requirements to keep abreast of times so that more Indians can become entrepreneurs and lead organisations.
