Chennai, July 4: In a shocking case of a mobile charger explosion in Chennai, a 90-year-old man and his 60-year-old daughter was killed in it. According to a Deccan Chronicle report, the incident took place in Tambaram police station jurisdiction. On that fateful night, the father-daughter duo, who is a vegetable seller had gone off to sleep by plugging the smartphone for charging to the wall socket. There was also a mosquito coil inside the room, so initially, it was being blamed for the tragedy.

However, it was later discovered that the coil had nothing to do with the incident. The father died in the morning, while his daughter managed to give a statement to the police before succumbing to her injuries. A case has been registered while the police are further investigating the matter. Police have further issued a statement to warn people about the risk of overcharging their smartphones.

Recently a video went viral, where a mobile phone blasted in a man's pocket at an eatery in Bhandup. Luckily, no was injured in it, even though fumes started appearing from his shirt's front pocket. Last month, Cradle Fund CEO, Nazrin Hassan died when one of his smartphones exploded while charging in the bedroom.
