Mumbai, November 13: ChatGPT developer OpenAI is planning to launch its new "AI Agent," code-named "Operator," likely in January 2025. The upcoming OpenAI software would be able to take direct actions from users' computers. The Sam Altman-run company would reportedly introduce its new model's research preview via its developer API.
According to reports, the upcoming OpenAI Operator AI Agent will respond to Computer Use, an agent feature rolled out by rival Anthropic AI. In addition to these companies, tech giant Google is also rumoured to launch its new agent focused on the consumer. While these companies and others plan to do more with their existing artificial intelligence capabilities, their launch timeline is still not confirmed. OpenAI recently released its Search feature, which allows users to find information by accessing online web pages. Although this feature was announced for select users across multiple paid versions of OpenAI models, it will soon be rolled out for free users. It is expected that the "Operator" AI Agent would help the users execute tasks in a web browser. As an early rollout, the Sam Altman-headed company would introduce the feature to the developers only for testing and improvement.
