San Francisco, October 7: OpenAI recently witnessed a leadership reshuffle as the CTO Mira Murati, Chief Research Officer Bob McCrew and VP Research Berret Zoph, resigned together to follow different paths. The OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said all the departures were different and unrelated to one reason. He also made headlines when reports said that he would acquire a 7% stake in the company, which was turned to "for profit" from a "non-profit".
Last week, ChatGPT-developer raised USD 6.6 billion in a funding round, which increased the company's valuation to USD 157 billion. Amid this, Vinod Khosla, an early Indian-American venture capitalist and entrepreneur, called the OpenAI team strong despite the departures. Khosla was also an early investor in the company who recently praised the AI company's technical team, according to a report by Bloomberg. The report also said that after the latest funding round, Sam Altman-run OpenAI became one of the largest VC-backed startups in the world. The Khosla-Venture founder, who supported OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, also added that the high rate of company executive turnovers did not worry him. OpenAI had witnessed the largest funding round, increasing the company's valuation. The company, in total, raised USD 17.9 billion, as per reports. During the funding round, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman advised investors not to invest in rival AI companies, including SSI, which was founded by the former OpenAI founder, Ilya Sutskever. Sam Altman also reportedly warned investors to stay away from companies like Elon Musk's xAI and others like AnthropicAI. OpenAI said it was progressing on AGI (artificial general intelligence) that would benefit all humanity. It also stated that over 250 million people across the globe using ChatGPT could enhance their work, creativity and learning.
