Mumbai, July 1: Ola founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal addressed the Apple supplier Foxconn's policy for not hiring married women in India. Foxconn reportedly denied hiring married women in India for many reasons - the main reason being that women have social and family responsibilities. Ola, on the other hand, commits to continue with gender equality when hiring candidates.

Bhavish Aggarwal shared his thoughts on the reports highlighting Foxconn's discriminatory hiring practices. He emphasised that his tech company would continue to hire women, including married women, to its new facility. Ola CEO said that 'there is no policy against hiring married women'. Further, Aggarwal highlighted the qualities of women candidates by saying that they tend to be more disciplined and dexterous. Planet Labs Layoffs: Earth Imaging and Monitoring Company Lays Off 17% of Its Workforce, Around 180 People as Part of Cost-Cutting Measures.

Bhavish Aggarwal also reaffirmed that his facilities would continue to hire women, saying that they have no policies like Foxconn for not hiring married women. According to a report by the Times of India, he further stated that the women's workforce in India had been low, and he is actively working to resolve this problem. The Ola CEO said that his company is trying to hire women employees from junior-level to senior management roles, instilling hope for a more balanced workforce.

Bhavish Aggarwal recently announced the Ola Futurefactory, which would be run entirely by women. He posted that the company welcomed the first batch and is at full capacity. In the future, the Ola Futurefactory aims to hire more than 12,000 women. This would make it the world's largest 'women-only' factory and the only factory with only women in an automotive manufacturing facility. NASA Says Not in a Rush To Bring Sunita Williams, Butch Wilmore Home.

Foxconn, Apple's major supplier, was investigated by Reuters about its discriminatory policy. The report mentioned two women- Parvathi and Janaki- whom Foxconn rejected because they were married. The former HR executive at Foxconn also said that the Apple supplier had such policies that did not hire married women to the facility as they had more family responsibilities than unmarried women.
