London, August 19: Nothing CEO Carl Pei announced that the employees who were allowed to work remotely for years since COVID would need to come back to the office if they support company's growth. Nothing CEO announced about the company's latest move after introducing five days a week in-office in London last week. Carl Pei shared the ambition of the company and how the WFH model would not fit to achieve the desired goals.

Nothing CEO Carl Pei announced on August 19 about ending the work from home, which was allowed for some employees since the company was established on October 29 2020 in London. Carl Pei explained in his message to the employees that Nothing Technologies "is the fastest growing smartphone brand in India at 567% YoY". Cognizant Addresses Fresher’s Salary Backlash, Clarifies Pay Scale for 3 Year Undergraduates in Non-Engineering Disciplines.

Nothing CEO Carl Pei's Message to End WFH on X:

Nothing CEO said, "We are the only company to have established a smartphone business in the last ten years... Yet, we are at 0.1% of our potential." He stressed that the company was established during the COVID-19 pandemic, and at first, employees were allowed to work remotely. Nothing transitioned to a hybrid work model in London and in-office at the company sites and would now move towards an "in-office" model in London.

"I know this is a controversial decision that may not be a fit for everyone", he added. Carl Pei said, "But that’s not right for our type of business and won’t help us fully realize our potential as a company." According to the Nothing CEO, due to three reasons, the company would move to the in-office work culture. He mentioned Nothing Technologies, a smartphone company selling physical products, would need design, engineering, manufacturing and quality teams to collaborate to deliver the products, which could not be possible remotely.

He said the second reason was creativity and innovation, not just physical products. People need to be in one place to solve complex problems and do more with fewer resources. CEO Carl Pei said he was not looking for good business or acquired by a big company but realised the full potential of becoming a "generation-defining company". Carl said the company was for grown-ups who would go out and make the right decision. Ericsson Reaches Deal To Sell US Firm Iconectiv for USD 1 Billion to Koch Unit.

The company CEO said those who would not be okay with the new setup should find an environment where they thrive, which could hint at potential layoffs. He confirmed the new changes would be effective in the next two months and would take live questions at Town Hall in London. Carl Pei ended message on X, "I’m looking forward to learning, growing, and building the next stage of the company with you all."
