Xiaomi, a popular Chinese smartphone maker will be launching the new Redmi S2 smartphone in the China today which will be a budget device. The smartphone will be launched in next couple hours that is scheduled for 2pm (11.30 am IST) in Nanjing at Suning.com headquarter which is believed to be the exclusive sales partner for the device. The smartphone is claimed to sport best selfie camera in Xiaomi’s Redmi series. Ahead of its official launch, the specifications, features and price details of the smartphone were leaked in the last weeks. However, more exact details will be revealed at the launch event today. Going by the same leaks, it is speculated that the device will be offered in 3 variants – 2GB, 3GB & 4GB. Moreover, the entry level variant with 16GB storage is expected to get a price tag of around CNY 1000 which is approximately Rs. 10,500. The mid-variant with 32GB of internal storage was previously listed on AliExpress with a price of $165.99 (around Rs. 11,100). On the other hand, the top end variant sporting 64GB of internal storage will be priced around $193.99 which is around Rs. 15,000. However, the exact prices for the variants are expected to be revealed today at the launch event.

Moreover, the smartphone was also listed on the Chinese certification agencies TENAA and 3C followed by e-commerce portal - AliExpress. The smartphone is expected to feature a 5.99-inch HD+ display panel with 720x1440 pixels resolution and aspect ratio of 18:9. To be powered by Snapdragon 625 SoC with Adreno 506 GPU, the smartphone will be fitted with up to 4GB of RAM with up to 64 GB of onboard storage.  Moreover, the handset is expected to be offered in various exciting shades - Black, Blue, Red, Silver, Pink, Rose Gold, Gold, White and Grey. The USP of the Redmi S2 smartphone will be its selfie camera featuring 16MP sensor upfront along with AI portrait mode with AI beautification. On the other hand, the smartphone will also feature vertically aligned dual camera module at the rear sporting 12MP primary sensor along with 5MP secondary shooter. Other highlights of the smartphone are expandable memory up to 256GB, 3080 mAh battery backup, 170 grams of weight & more.
