With an aim to strengthen its hold in the mid-range smartphone space, Xiaomi has officially launched the new Mi 6X smartphone in the Chinese market today. Priced at RMB 1599, the smartphone sports a similar design as that of Redmi Note 5 Pro that includes an all-metal uni-body design. Likewise the predecessor – Mi5X, the newly launched Mi6X smartphone might end to be christened as Mi A2 for the domestic market. The newly launched Mi6X device comes powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with Adreno 512 GPU along with two versions of RAM - 4GB and 6GB. The company is offering the smartphone in 3 variants with onboard storage capacity of 64GB and 128GB. All the three models will also support expandable storage with microSD memory card. At the front, the smartphone flaunts a 5.99-inch FHD+ display with a 2160x1080p resolution and 403ppi pixel density. The device also carries a dual rear camera setup which features 12MP Sony IMX 486 sensor and 20MP Sony IMX 376 sensor along with a dedicated dual LED flash. For selfies, the smartphone comes with 20MP shooter with soft LED flash face unlocking, selfies and video calling. Other highlights of the new Mi6X are Android Oreo-based MIUI 9, battery life of 3010mAh, USB Type-C with support for fast charging and more. As far as the prices are concerned, the new Xiaomi Mi6X smartphone gets a starting price of RMB 1599 (Rs. 16,904) for the entry level variant – 4GB+64GB. On the other hand, the top of the line variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB is priced at RMB 1999 (21,138). Moreover, the mid-variant equipped with 6GB RAM and 64GB on onboard storage gets a price of RMB 1,799 (Rs. 19,023). However, there is no official confirmation regarding the domestic launch of the smartphone and it also remains unconfirmed that the Android One model will be called as Mi A2 in India.
