Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently teased a new version of its News app with AI smarts at its I/O event, and today that revamped app landed for iOS and Android devices in 127 countries. The redesigned app replaces the previous Google Play Newsstand app. The new Google News app will offer a personalised news briefing of the top five stories along with latest local stories.

Google News will use machine learning to understand your news preference and will show stories throughout the day accordingly. There is a new feature called 'Full Coverage'. This will show all relevant stories on a particular story from different sources. Also, ' Subscribe with Google' will allow you to access your paid content everywhere on Google's platform.

Here are the five new features you should know on the new Google News app:

Briefing: To keep a tab on the latest happenings that interest you, Google will use AI to understand your preferences to feed you the top five latest stories of your interest throughout the day. With this feature Google says will make it easy for users to stay informed about “what’s important and relevant to you.” The briefing section will include local, national, and world news stories.

Full Coverage: This option will give you in-depth analysis on a particular news subject from various sources. It will highlight different perspectives on a particular topic, provide a timeline of key events, FAQs, important people, and more.

Credible Sources: In order to keep fake news at bay, Google News will curate quality content from a diverse set of credible publishers. It will also help users to discover other credible sources of news which they haven’t heard of before.

Stories: With this option, Google News will provide latest updates on topics that you select like sports, politics, business, tech, etc on a priority basis.

Subscribe With Google: As Google mentioned, “We believe quality journalism is worth paying for,” this option will allow users to subscribe to the newspapers and magazines easily with a single tap from a particular Google account.
