Mumbai, July 24: Good news for all Netflix lovers, as the online video streaming platform, has now rolled out a cheaper mobile-only plan to lure Indian customers. The plan will cost the users only Rs 199. Reportedly, India is the first and only country to get a mobile-exclusive plan. Netflix And Other Online Content Censorship to be Taken Into Consideration After Consultation With Stakeholders, Says Prakash Javadekar.

This new subscription plan was announced at an event in New Delhi, where the company said that keeping in mind that Indian users stream Netflix more on their mobile phone than any devices, Netflix has come up with the Rs 199 mobile plan. Indian Netflix users are also among the highest downloaders of content globally, and going forward, the company has plans of making more investments in India for smartphone users.

The mobile-only plan has the same features as other Netflix subscription plans. Users who sign up will be eligible for one month trial after which they can continue or cancel.

Netflix's new plan is an attempt to combat competition from Amazon and Hotstar, whose offerings are much cheaper.  According to a Bloomberg report, Netflix Inc. shocked investors last week by reporting a loss of 130,000 customers in U.S. customers and a much slower growth overseas, thus raising fears that the streaming giant is losing momentum. For the first time in eight years, Netflix is losing customers in the US market.
