Motorola, a Lenovo-owned smartphone manufacturer has officially started rolling out the latest Android 9.0 Pie update for the Moto X4 handset in India. The company has initiated this roll out in a phased manner and it will take couple of days for the new OS to reach all the users across the country. As a reminder, Motorola Moto X4 smartphone was launched towards the end of 2017 with Android 7.1 Nougat OS out-of-the-box. However, the company was pretty much quick to release the Android Oreo update in the month of December itself. Now, the company has started deploying Google's latest sweet pastry dough flavoured Pie OS to the Moto X4 that announced earlier this year in August. This seems to be a great move by Motorola as the fact that it has already faced the wrath of the Moto Loyalists for not rolling out the update to Moto E5 series, despite the fact that it is 2018 model. According to the report from 91Mobiles, the Android 9 Pie OS build number (PPW29.69-17) for Moto X4 is slightly over 1.1GB. Here's how you can install the latest Android 9.0 Pie OS on your smartphone -
1. If you have received the new software notification, then you need to select the option - 'Yes, I'm in'.
2. After that the users need to download the software. Once downloaded, select 'Install Now'.
3. After the new software is installed on your device, the phone will restart automatically.
4. Now your handset is updated to Android 9.0 Pie.
However, if you haven't received the software notification, you can check it manually. For checking manually, you need to go to Settings of the phone, then select system updates and then check for the new firmware.
After rolling out the Android Pie update to Moto X4, Motorola is also planning to release the latest 9.0 Pie update to Moto One Power, Moto G6, Moto G6 Play and G6 Plus, Moto Z3, Z3 Play, Moto Z2, Z2 Force and Z2 Play.
