MIUI 10 Officially Unveiled: Gets AI Portrait Mode, Recent Menu & Other Features
Xiaomi has launched many new products at the annual launch event including MIUI 10, Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi 8 SE and Mi Explorer Edition, Mi Band 3 and Xiaomi TVs.
Xiaomi, a popular Chinese handset maker revealed the new Mi 8 flagship smartphone at its annual launch event on Thursday alongside Mi 8 SE and Mi 8 Explorer Edition. The company also launched the new Mi Band 3 which comes with a bigger 0.78-inches display and a 110 mAh battery. Priced at CNY 169 around Rs. 1770, the new Mi band is 5ATM water resistant. Another highlight of Xiaomi's launch event was MIUI 10 which is company's latest UI interface. Also, the Chinese smartphone company is touting AI-based prowess of the OS which brings software based Bokeh effect.
The company has also revealed the features coming to the new MIUI 10 which includes a new Recents widget, AI Preload, and integrated smart home device support. Xiaomi has also revealed time frame for the China Developer ROM and the list of eligible devices. Starting off with the Portrait feature, Xiaomi claims that the smartphones running on MIUI 10 will be able to capture shots with bokeh effect without any dual camera module. The feature will be completely software based wherein the algorithms will be used for identifying the foreground and to blur the background.
Moving on to the next feature, the Recent widgets sports a new layout designed to maximum the screen space and supports full screen gestures, enabling the users to swipe to delete tasks and long press for more options.
Another highlight of the MIUI 10 is the AI Preload that is designed for reducing load times taken by the apps. As the software would preload the app based users usage pattern, it reduces the native UI functions to zero. Talking about the Mi 8 Specifications, the flagship smartphone from Xiaomi comes powered by a Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with up to 8GB of RAM. The main highlight of the design is the iPhone X like notch upfront along with in-screen fingerprint sensor and transparent glass back panel. The smartphone gets a 6.21-inch Samsung AMOLED FHD+ display panel with 2248 x 1080 pixels resolution. For optics, the Mi 8 sports dual 12MP camera sensor at the back along with 20MP snapper upfront.
