Redmond, August 11: Microsoft will discontinue the Paint 3D app from all Windows versions from November 4, 2024. The app was launched in April 2017 in the 'Creator Update' along with Paint. It allowed users to go beyond two-dimensional flat drawings and create their work in three-dimension. This application was introduced as a potential replacement for classic Paint for people to create 3D models.

The tech giant's decision to discontinue this app reportedly reflects its shift in focus on the long-running classic Paint app. Despite offering users the ability to create 3D models with ease, the reports said that Paint 3D didn't establish the needed user base. Most users are still habituated to the classic Paint application in Windows and hardly use this app. MapmyIndia CEO Rohan Verma Calls Ola Maps ‘Gimmick’ and Questions Its Navigational Abilities, Ola Spokesperson Fires Back Calling Statement As ‘Baseless’.

Paint app has been a part of Windows for decades, with the first version launched in Windows and Windows 1.0 in 1985. This old app was a licensed version of ZSoft Corporation's PC Paintbrush, which supported 1-bit monochrome graphics under "MSP" format. Reports said that Paint 3D was already removed from Windows released in 2021 from the list of pre-installed applications. However, it has been available to download from the Microsoft Store app.

Several users on X and other social media have posted images of seeing a notice about Microsoft discontinuing the Paint 3D app. The notice on the app reads, "Paint 3D won't be available in the Microsoft Store or receive future updates starting on November 4, 2024." The tech giant will stop supporting this application after the deadline. According to reports, Microsoft recommended that users consider more advanced 3D modelling applications available in the market. Instagram Friend Map: Meta-Owned Platform Testing New Feature To Allow Users To Place Text and Video Locations on Map and Share With Others.

Besides, the company has already offered several updates and AI-powered features to the classic Paint app that helps users create images from scratch. Some key features in the classic app include an improved pen, eraser and tool size slider.
