New Delhi. May 22: Microsoft Edge is set to introduce a new feature that is expected to enhance the way users interact with online video content. The new feature, announced during Microsoft's annual developer conference, will bring real-time translation and dubbing capabilities to the Microsoft Edge browser to improve the user experience.

With the help of AI technology, the new feature of the Edge browser will likely enable its users to translate videos into their preferred languages seamlessly through audio dubbing and subtitles. Initially supporting translations between various languages like Hindi, English, German, Italian, Russian and Spanish, the feature is expected to reduce language barriers and provide a more user-friendly video-viewing experience. Microsoft Build 2024: Tech Giant Announces Phi-3-Vision AI Model With Multimodal Capabilities; Check Details.

As per report of Times of India, Microsoft Edge is going to offer Google Chrome-like features that will help its users to get real-time live translation, a feature that might open up a lot of possibilities for users seeking to access a number of different types of video content.

The innovative feature of Microsoft Edge's capability is intended to be accessible to a wide audience, including those who are deaf or hard of hearing, by making video content more accessible and understandable, as per a report of Business Today. The feature will support popular platforms like YouTube, LinkedIn, Moneycontrol and Coursera and will also extend its reach to news websites such as Reuters, CNBC and Bloomberg, with plans to include more languages and websites in the future. Ola Migrates All Workload From Microsoft Azure To Own Cloud Platform ‘Krutrim’ Amid LinkedIn Saga.

To use the video translation feature, users should click on the translate icon and choose the source and preferred languages. The AI system will then automatically generate real-time translations of the video content. Microsoft has confirmed that the translation process occurs entirely on the user's local device, ensuring that no video data is transmitted or processed externally in the cloud. As stated by Microsoft, "This means that no segment of the video or audio content ever exits the machine or is processed in the cloud".
