Mumbai, June 8: In a groundbreaking development, Kuaishou Technology, a leading Chinese short-video platform, has introduced its groundbreaking text-to-video model named "Kling". This strategic move by Kuaishou is aimed at competing with OpenAI’s anticipated Sora model, set to revolutionise AI-powered video generation. Demonstrated through a series of impressive demo videos, Kling's capabilities have already sparked excitement among AI enthusiasts.
Released on Thursday, June 6, Kling is accessible through Kuaishou’s Kuaiying app on an invite-only basis, as reported by the South China Morning Post. The model has already impressed AI enthusiasts, who have shared their creations online, demonstrating Kling’s ability to generate videos with lifelike physical properties. As per the report, Kling, which employs technology similar to Sora, can produce 1080p high-definition videos lasting up to two minutes, showcasing large-scale realistic motions and simulating physical world characteristics. This release comes in the wake of OpenAI’s Sora, which, despite not being publicly accessible yet, has set a high bar with its one-minute-long high-definition videos. Kling uses the innovative Diffusion Transformer architecture to transform textual prompts into immersive visual experiences. The model uses advanced 3D face and body reconstruction technology, supported by Kuaishou's proprietary 3D VAE, which allows users to create videos mimicking realistic motions that simulate real-world physical characteristics. Kuaishou demonstrated Kling's prowess through a demo video, highlighting its advanced video creation capabilities that surpass Sora’s current offerings. While OpenAI gears up to unveil its own Sora model later this year, the chasm between the two contenders may already be widening. However, one potential hurdle for Kling's global ascendancy lies in China's reluctance to grant worldwide access to its cutting-edge technology.
