Kerala Floods: Google Person Finder Launches Tool for Affected, Also Know How to Mark Yourself Safe on Facebook

As the havoc continues Google's Person Finder tool has been rolled out for those in distress.

Hundreds of people continue to be stuck atop flooded houses in Kerala as rescue operations are trying their best. The death toll has risen to 91 with 43 injured in different rain-related incidents and many missing. As the havoc continues Google's Person Finder tool has been rolled out for those in distress. The Person Finder tool can help find people and provide information about the missing peoples. To use the tool one can log in from a desktop or mobile phones and find people according to the data about the missing persons on the site.

Google's Person Finder data is available to be public and is quite simple to use. One has enter name of the person they are looking for and Google will display its available records of matching names and address. One can also create a new record. You can add information about a missing person including name and address. Google tweeted a screenshot of the app on Thursday saying: 'Our thoughts are with those in Kerala. Facebook also has a safety feature which can be used to mark oneself safe during a calamity. The safety check lets users in the affected area broadcast to their Facebook friends that they are safe. Kerala has been reeling under heavy rains and related issues since earlier this month. A red alert has been issued in all the 14 districts of the state as torrential rains have destroyed thousands of houses, swept away roads, disrupted rail and road traffic in most places. The state of Kerala has come to a standstill while rescue operations including the NDRF, army, navy, air force are doing their best. Affected people have been shifted to relief camps while many were airlifted from atop flooded houses.
