In a bid to capitalise in the feature phone market, India's leading telecom player - Reliance Jio is reportedly planning to launch a new feature phone in the country. Likely to be called as JioPhone Lite, the device will be a cheaper version of JioPhone with Internet connectivity or smart features. According to the market reports, the telecom major is presently surveying with retailers regarding the JioPhone Lite. As per the report from 91mobiles, the forthcoming JioPhone Lite will be more affordable than the initial JioPhone as it would strip off all the smart features seen on the regular JioPhone. The JioPhone Lite necessarily will be capable of making only calls. Technically, there will be no feature for internet or apps.
The report further mentioned that the upcoming JioPhone Lite would sport a small display along with alphanumeric T9 keypad. Additionally, there is no mentioning of the camera or FM Radio in the much-talked JioPhone Lite. As far as the pricing is concerned, the JioPhone Lite reportedly could be priced below Rs 500. Another market report tipped that the handset would be priced at Rs 399 with an additional recharge of Rs 50 offering a validity of 28 days. Moreover, the tariff plan reportedly will comprise of unlimited calling to Jio as well as landline numbers apart fro the bundled minutes for other mobile networks.
