Japan Unveils World’s First 6G Device Capable of Achieving 100 Gbps Speed; Know Benefits and Limitations of 6G Technology

Japanese telecom companies together contributed to develop a new 6G prototype device in Japan making it "world's first 6G device". The Japan 6G prototype could reportedly achieve 100 Gbps of higher internet speed compared to 5G network. Here are the benefits and limitations of 6G technology.

Tokyo, May 6: Japan unveiled the world's first 6G device that could transmit data at a higher speed than the 5G network. According to multiple sources, the 6G network holds huge potential to transform the world and promote the growth and development of IoT applications. A Japanese group of companies collaboratively developed a prototype of the world's first high-speed 6G device that could send data at 100 gigabytes and offer 20x improvement compared to the current 5G technology.

The world's first 6G device was developed by a collaboration of major Japanese telecom companies, according to a report by India TV News. The report mentioned that the telecom companies of Japan that helped develop the prototype of the advanced 6G device included DOCOMO, NTT Corporation, NEC Corporation and Fujitsu. The testing of Japan's 6G device was reportedly completed on April 11 and showed a significant milestone in developing the 6G technology. Indian Government’s Electronic Component Manufacturing PLI To End Dependency on Foreign Suppliers, Contribute to ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and Create Jobs.

6G Network in Japan; Internet Speed and Advancements

Compared to the 5G network, which offers a limited internet speed of 10Gbps (equivalent to 200 to 400mbps in real-world usage),  Japan's 6G prototype device demonstrated a significant improvement in internet speed. The device showcased a remarkable 100 Gbps speed on a 100Ghz band indoors and maintained the same high-speed performance outdoors on a 300Ghz band. The 6G prototype device achieved better data transmission and surpassed speed barriers by utilising these higher frequency bands.

Being at its early stage, 6G technology could be a bigger leap towards commercialisation, said the report. The research and improvement of this technology will help it become faster and more efficient in the coming years. It could reportedly revolutionise communication, improve the virtual experiences and offer "real-time holographic communication". Warren Buffett Compares Artificial Intelligence With Nuclear Weapons, Shares Personal Experience With AI-Generated Images and Videos.

6G Network Limitations

Despite offering faster speed and promising to benefit commercialisation, the 6G network has some limitations. The report highlighted that the 6G technology had reduced network coverage because of the "lower penetration range". Additionally, this technology would face limitations due to environmental factors such as walls, rain and others, which would decrease the overall performance.
