Cupertino, September 9: Apple's most awaited iPhone 16 Pro series is launched globally during today's 'It's Glowtime' event. The Pro models, including the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, come with several upgrades related to the hardware, software, design, camera and AI features. The event held in Apple Park in Cupertino was live-streamed globally on September 9, 2024.

Apple iPhone 16 Pro, Pro Max Specifications and Features

iPhone 16 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch larger display with ProMotion and Ceramic Shield, while the Pro Max features a 6.9-inch display. The 16 Pro variants boast thinner bezels and use a Grade 5 Titanium frame that is lightweight and more durable. The smartphones come in four colour options - Black Titanium, White Titanium, Natural Titanium, and a new Desert Titanium.

iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max come with an A18 Pro chip, which is significantly faster and more efficient than the A17 Pro chipset. The A18 Pro chipset is built on a 2nd generation 3nm architecture and has a 16-core neural engine that excels in handling Generative AI workloads. Also, it can perform 35 trillion operations per second. Further, it provides 17% more memory bandwidth than its predecessor. This results in a 50% performance increase over the A17 Pro, making it a powerhouse for intensive tasks and applications.

The improved 6-core GPU in the iPhone 16 Pro promises 20% faster performance than the A17 Pro's GPU. It also supports enhanced ray tracing capabilities, which are now twice as fast as the previous generation. Additionally, the GPU offers a 17% overall speed improvement and also comes with a dedicated machine-learning accelerator. This combo boosts overall graphical performance for tasks that need AI and machine learning.

The iPhone 16 Pro features advanced media capabilities, including ProMotion and always-on support.  For photography enthusiasts, the iPhone 16 Pro's camera system is equipped with a 48MP Fusion Camera having a 2nd generation quad-pixel sensor which is used for ideal for capturing still-images in high quality. It also features a 48MP Ultra Wide Camera for detailed photos and a 12MP 5X telephoto camera with a 120mm focal length. The new tetraprism camera also increases optical zoom performance and help taking long-distance shots. Regarding audio performance, Spatial Audio Capture is also available on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max Price

Apple launched its iPhone 16 Pro Max at USD 999 and its top-end iPhone 16 Pro Max at USD 1199. The Pro models will be available on September 20, 2024. The company also announced that customers will receive USD 1,000 off in the US. Apple announced that its Apple Intelligence beta will be available next month and will offer more advanced features for the months to come.
