Cupertino, May 21: Apple released its new iOS 17.5.1 update, which brings fixes the bug that caused the older deleted photo reappearing in the Photo library. In the release note of its new iOS 17.5.1 update, Apple informed that it provided important bug fixes and addressed a rare issue where "photos that experienced database corruption could reappear in the Photos library" even after the user deleted them. 

According to a report by the Times of India, Apple's new iOS 17.5.1 update addresses the complaints of many Apple users. iOS 17.5.1 Update Compatibility

According to the report by Forbes.com, a new update was introduced for iPhones in 2018, including iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and XR. The report mentioned that the update would be compatible with iPhone SE 2nd and 3rd generation models, iPhone 11 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 14 series and latest iPhone 15 series. 

Steps to Install the iOS 17.5.1 Update

The latest iOS 17.5.1 version can be updated in the above compatible iPhone models by following the below steps,

  • Open 'Setting'
  • Click the 'Generation' option
  • Then click on 'Software Update'

After following these simple steps, begin downloading the iOS update on your device. The purpose of the update was to address the complaint and the rare issue of seeing deleted photos from a year ago. The report said that the deleted photos reappeared in the Photo library. Apple emphasised that the deleted photos experienced database corruption which caused their reappearance. The report highlighted that Apple did not reveal how such an error could have occurred. The report said that the new iOS 17.5.1 update would be crucial for those who sold their iPhones or gave them away and didn't want some old photos to come back. According to the report, Apple aimed this new iOS update to make zombie photos "a thing of the past."
