Instagram Update: Chronological Feed Problem Addressed, You'll Start Seeing New Posts First
Though the entire problem is not solved, at least the newer posts will get promoted better than before.
Photo sharing, editing social media platform Instagram had been facing flak because of their new algorithm. The application has now fixed the issue and users can once again see the newer posts first. In the earlier changed algorithm, the users could not see newer posts and there was no way to sort the content. But the company has listened to the users and got back the chronological feed.
Though the entire problem is not solved, at least the newer posts will get promoted better than before. Instagram will introduce a 'New Posts' button that lets users choose when they want to refresh their feed. So instead of waiting for the automatic refreshing, users can tap the button and get to see the newest posts on the top of their feed. "Your feed will feel more fresh. Over the next few months, we’ll be sharing more about improvements we’re making to feed. Our goal is to be the best place to share and connect with the people and interests that matter most to you," the company said.
So now instead of the app automatically refreshing and sending you the newer posts, which may not be in chronology, you can select it at your intervals yourself. So newer content will get priority over the older updates. We can expect the application to make chronological feed a return. The application has introduced several new features over the months and is currently also testing the 'quote-storied' feature. It is similar to Twitter's feature of quoting a tweet and sharing it. So a user can apparently share posts within their stories. Only public stories can be quoted. The timeline about when this feature will roll out is not yet known but the application is sure trying to make changes to help users to find relevant posts from time to time.
