New Delhi, October 18: Instagram, the Meta-owned platform, has reportedly announced a new feature that will change how users share and view content in direct messages (DMs). The update will likely enhance privacy and security for its users. As per reports, Instagram users will no longer be able to take screenshots of images and videos sent in DMs. Shared content can only be viewed once to prevent users from taking screenshots of sensitive or private material.

As per a report of Republic, Instagram users will no longer be able to take screenshots of images and videos sent in DMs. If someone shares a photo or video with the "View Once" or "Allow Replay" option, the recipient will not be able to capture it using a screenshot. Instagram looking to ensure that shared content remains confidential and is not saved or shared without permission by restricting screenshots. Instagram Restricts From Taking Screenshots

Instagram users could previously take screenshots or record their screens to save images and videos shared in DMs, even for posts marked as "View Once." Whenever someone did this, the platform would notify the sender that their content had been saved.

However, with the introduction of this new feature, users will no longer be able to capture images or videos shared in DMs. The change will enhance privacy and will ensure that content shared between users remains temporary and cannot be permanently stored without the sender's knowledge.

Instagram New Features for Preventing Sextortion Scams

Instagram has also revealed that it is testing new safety notification alerts in Instagram DMs and Messenger. These alerts are meant to inform teenagers when they are chatting with someone who might be in a different country. The company explained that these suspicious accounts will no longer be able to view the followers or following lists of other users. The change is intended to make it harder for scammers to find and target individuals, particularly younger users, on the platform.
