Bengaluru, August 21: Indian IT major Infosys reportedly delayed the onboarding process of over 2,000 freshers from the 2022 batch who are still waiting to get jobs. Infosys confirmed to hire these freshers for System Engineer and Digital Specialist Engineer roles. The company told the individuals to take two pre-training sessions before the onboarding; however, it did not provide any login details to begin it.

Moneycontrol said in its report the pre-training was set to begin on August 19, 2024, but Infosys did not provide them with credentials to access the portal to begin the sessions. Despite the IT giant's assurance to hire, the employees have grown impatient of waiting around for more delays. Following this, an IT Union based in Pune called "NITES" filed a request to the labour ministry to investigate Infosys and its claims on hiring. Job Creation in India: Online E-Commerce Vendors Create 1.6 Crore Jobs in Country Including 35 Lakh for Women, Says Report.

When Did Infosys Hiring Start?

It began two months ago when Infosys reached out to candidates who were given offer letters in 2020. Since then, the employees have started complaining about multiple rounds of "pre-training sessions" and "assessments" that made them worried about the company's whole hiring process. Infosys even confirmed the salaries for each role offered to the freshers.

The System Engineers were offered INR 3.6 lakh per annum, and the Digital Specialist Engineers INR 6.5 lakh per annum. The Pune-based Nascent Information Technology Employee Senate (NITES) filed a request to the Ministry of Labour and Employment to investigate the matter and find if the company was going on "exploitation and unprofessional treatment" of the freshers.

What Did Employee Say to Infosys Hiring Delay?

Despite 50-60 candidates receiving offer letters for the stable role of Digital Specialist Engineer, those who did not get selected expressed their frustration and worry. A candidate said, "We were just expecting the result, but what did they do? Again and again, sending pre-training emails." One candidate said his pre-training was scheduled for July 1, 2024. The Infosys HR official highlighted that the results would be announced in two days, and the joining date would be September 2, 2024. Jobs Coming in Gujarat: Semiconductor Company Suchi Semicon To Invest USD 100 Million in Indian State, Generate 1,200 Jobs.

The candidate, along with many others, appeared in the exam on July 24. Still, one of them said, "I have wasted 2.5+ years because of Infosys." The individual said he did not know how to trust the company and get assurance that it would not happen again. Harpreet Singh Saluja, President of NITES, urged the government to take swift and strict action against Infosys to stop these exploitative practices and safeguard the rights of these young professionals.
