Austin, May 14: US-based job search firm Indeed recently announced to lay off around 8% of its workforce. According to reports, the Indeed layoffs in 2024 will be the second biggest round in the past two years. The Indeed layoffs will impact the US workforce, leading to 1,000 people losing their jobs. With the layoffs at Indeed, the company aims to simplify its organisation and take faster decisions. Indeed's CEO Chris Hyams shared a heartfelt message with the company employees, calling it a "difficult decision'. 

CEO Chris Hyams posted a message in the company's press room section notifying the employees about the Indeed layoffs. Through the notice titled - "A Message from our CEO, Chris Hyams", the he expressed his feelings towards the hard decision that he and the company had to take. Indeed CEO Chris Hyams said that the layoffs at Indeed would impact approximately 1,000 people, around 8% of the total workforce. He further said that the job cuts would affect several groups and regions across the United States. Chris Hyams assured that the job cuts would be limited to the US and mainly impact R&D and Go-to-Market teams. However, he said that Indeed employees working outside the country, like in the UK, Ireland, and Australia, might soon come to know if the layoff decision impacts them. 

The Indeed CEO took the shared responsibility of this decision with the entire SLT team and said, "I am responsible for how we got here, and the entire SLT is responsible for making the difficult decisions necessary to help set us up for the future" He further said that despite knowing that the decision to reduce headcount would likely impact lives of the employees, he said it was necessary as for the company. At last, the CEO reiterated the importance of the company's mission to help people get jobs and its impact on society. He said that the Indeed layoffs would help the organisation simplify and work effectively as one team, reigniting revenue growth and reaching the company's 2030 goal of helping 100 million people get jobs. He emphasised that the company's mission was vital, and it was incredibly hard to see people leave, as the company knew the importance of having a job in a person's life.
