Humble Games Layoffs: US-Based Indie Game Publisher Confirms Laying Off Several Employees Due to Restructuring, Former Employee Calls It Company Shutdown

American Indie game publisher Humble Games confirmed mass layoffs of the employees due to restructuring exercise. However, a former employee called the action as a company shutdown which will leave no employees working.

San Francisco, July 25: Humble Games, a US-based online Indie game publisher, confirmed the reports about the layoffs of entire staff amid restructuring. The reports also claimed that the Humble Bundle-owned gaming company would shut down after Humble Games layoffs. The company decided layoffs amid economic challenges. 

According to the official post by Humble Games on LinkedIn, the layoffs were announced because the company was facing a challenging economic situation for Indie game publishing. The gaming company said that the decision to implement Humble Games layoffs was necessary to restructure the operations. According to a report by Nasdaq, the announcement of layoffs at Humble Games came as an employee posted on LinkedIn about the company letting go of 36 employees and shutting down. Another employee said that all of the Humble Games staff was affected, and many good people looking for work would need support.

Following these posts, the India game publisher acknowledged the layoff decision and empathised with the affected. The Humble Games job cut decision was implemented to ensure stability and support for developers and ongoing projects, said the company. This year, Ubisoft, Gameloft, Avalanche Studio, Unity and other gaming companies laid off several employees amid restructuring, economic instability, and similar reasons.
