Mumbai, August 28: HMD Global on Wednesday officially announced the Barbie phone with a retro flip design, offering a reminiscence of the 90s era. Launched in partnership with Mattel, the flip phone carries a price tag of 129 Euros (around INR 12,000) in Europe. It will be available starting today onwards. However, US customers will have to wait until October 1 to get their hands on the device as pre-orders for this retro phone commence from September 23. The company has not confirmed if/when the phone will arrive on the Indian shores.
The device comes in a single Power Pink colour with the same coloured battery and USB Type-C charger bundled in the retail box. HMD ships the Barbie flip phone in a jewellery box, which includes the handset, beaded lanyards with charms, two back covers, stickers and gems. Specification-wise, the HMD Barbie flip phone sports a 2.8-inch QVGA primary design and a 1.77-inch secondary display, which also functions as a mirror. It draws power from a Unisoc T107 processor paired with 64MB RAM and 128 MB onboard storage with a provision to expand ROM by up to 32GB via microSD. The dual-sim handset gets a 0.3MP VGA rear camera with an LED flash. It supports features like a 3.5mm audio jack, MP3 Player, FM Radio both wired/wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB Type-C. It is backed by a 1,450mAh battery, which is removable and offers a talk time of up to 9 hours.
