New Delhi, September 4: Google has reportedly released an update for its Pixel smartphones to address surveillance vulnerabilities that raised security concerns. The new update is expected to enhance the security of Google Pixel devices that has been rolled out following reports of potential exploitation by hackers. Google is taking proactive steps to protect users of Google Pixel devices from potential threats with the update.

As per a report of The Verge, Google releases the Pixel update to eliminate the surveillance vulnerability associated with Showcase.apk. The software was included in all Google Pixel smartphones but had not been operational for some time. Showcase.apk was made a long time ago for Verizon's in-store demo devices. However, it is no longer being used. The September patch not only removes Showcase.apk but also improves Wi-Fi stability and performance for the latest Pixel 9 series.

The September update includes fixes for multiple security issues, specifically addressing the removal of the third-party APK that posed a risk. Google has emphasised the importance of keeping devices updated to protect against potential threats.
