Google, a popular technology giant has officially stopped retailing the original very first generation Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. The company has removed the smartphone from its Google Store as per the media reports. Spotted by Android Police, the landing page of the 2016 Pixels has been redirected to another page containing Pixel 2 and its accessories. Confirming the same to Digital trends, the publication reported that some of the third-party retailers are still retailing the smartphone, however, not sure how much longer the devices will be available for sale. Moreover, Amazon is currently retailing both brand new as well as refurbished versions of the smartphones. With the introduction of Pixel 2, Google slashed the prices for the first-generation Pixel to just $549, while the Pixel 2 was just $100 more. The first generation Pixel smartphones were launched in the year 2016 and India was among the first 6 countries to receive the device which was priced at Rs. 57,000.
Moreover, the first generation Pixel smartphone also became the first device to get Google Assistant – an in-built AI programme that intelligent personal assistant and knowledge navigator such as Siri. The smartphone also came pre-loaded with Google Duo video calling application and messaging app – Allo. It comes fitted with Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 Quad core processors coupled with 4GB of RAM. Google introduced the next generation Pixel 2 smartphones in the domestic market last year by November which was priced at Rs. 61,000 for the 64GB variant. Also, the tech giant has shipped approximately, 3.9 million Pixel and Pixel 2 smartphones in the year 2017 which is almost the double which the company shipped in 2016.
