New Delhi, November 3: Google is expected to make file sharing between Android and iPhone devices much simpler. The change could significantly improve how users transfer files across different platforms. Google launched a feature called Quick Share, which was previously known as Nearby Share, back in 2020. The service allows users to easily transfer files from one device to another using a local network connection.
As per a report of Android Authority, Google might soon make it easier to share files with Apple devices by expanding its sharing tool to work with iPhones and MacBooks. The update could allow users to transfer files directly between Android and Apple products. Quick Share on Android works similarly to AirDrop, which allows users to send files between Android devices, Chromebooks, and Windows PC. According to a report of Techradar, Quick Share might soon be available on iOS and macOS, which would support iPhones, iPads, and Macs. The Quick Share feature relies on Nearby Connections, which allows apps to find and connect with other devices that are close by. The peer-to-peer networking system enables users to share data instantly, even if they are not connected to the internet. Google has not made any official announcement regarding the development. If Google is developing a Quick Share application for iOS and macOS, it will not be the first time Google has created a tool for a platform. Last year, Google introduced the Quick Share feature for Windows, which allows Android phones and tablets to easily share files with Windows computers. If they decide to launch Quick Share for Apple devices, they might either offer it as a separate app or include it within one of their current applications.
