New Delhi, August 15: The US Department of Justice is reportedly considering options that could include breaking up Alphabet's Google. Reports indicate that the Department of Justice is considering the option after a judge ruled the tech giant illegally monopolised the online search market. The potential decision could force Google to sell some of its key businesses or share more data with competitors.

As per a report of Bloomberg, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) is considering a solution after a court ruling found that the company monopolised the online search market.. The consideration is said to come after Judge Amit Mehta's August 5 decision, which ruled that Google illegally controlled the markets of online search and search text ads, as per a report of Times of India. The ruling was delivered in the US District Court for the District of Columbia and represents an important step in the government's attempt to limit the influence of major tech companies. Google Pixel 9 Series Launched in India, Pre-Order for Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL Starts Today and Will Be Available on August 22; Check Prices and Other Details.

DOJ is allegedly focusing on Google because of concerns that its control of the search market limits competition. By possibly breaking up the company, the DOJ hopes to create opportunities for other businesses to offer different options. It would be the most significant antitrust action against a US company since AT&T was dismantled in the 1980s if the DOJ proceeds with a breakup. It has been reported that DOJ lawyers have been talking to companies that have been affected by Google's actions to get their opinions on possible solutions to the issue. YouTube Music New Update: Google-Owned Platform Introduces New Home Feed Design on Android, iOS; Check Details.

As per reports, one of the options being discussed is to make Google sell off important parts of its business. It could involve Google having to give up control of its Android operating system and Chrome web browser. Officials are also said to be considering whether Google should be forced to sell its advertising platform, AdWords, now called Google Ads. They are also reportedly considering other options, such as Google sharing more data with competitors like Microsoft's Bing or DuckDuckGo. However, Google reportedly plans to appeal Judge Mehta's decision, as the company believes its success is due to offering the best search engine that users prefer.
