New Delhi, November 12: Google has reportedly rolled out a new feature on Google Maps that will let its users to check real-time air quality levels. The feature of Google Maps is said to provide more detailed information about environmental conditions. It will likely help users to stay informed about the air quality in their surroundings. Apart from navigation, Google Maps is now giving important information about the environment to more than two billion active users.
As per a report of Business Standard, Google has rolled out a new feature, allowing users to check the real-time average air quality index (AQI) within its Maps app. The addition aims to help users stay aware of the air quality in their current location or the areas they plan to visit. The feature will be available in various locations throughout India and in more than 100 countries around the world, starting from this week. Google Maps is expected to provide information about the AQI in a way that is easy for everyone to understand. The AQI will be calculated based on the levels of different pollutants present in a specific area, with values ranging from 0 to 500.
How To Use the AQI Feature on Google Maps
To check the air quality using Google Maps, first, open the app on your device. Next, tap on the layers icon located in the top right corner of the screen. From the options, select “Air Quality.” It will show you the real-time Air Quality Index (for the area you have chosen. The Air Quality Index (AQI) Will Be Shown Using a Scale With Different Colours
- 0 to 50: The range will be marked as Good and will be shown in Green.
- 51 to 100: The range will be called Satisfactory and will appear in Light Green.
- 101 to 200: The range will be labelled as Moderate and will be displayed in Yellow.
- 201 to 300: The range will be marked as Poor and will be shown in Orange.
- 301 to 400: It will be considered Very Poor and will appear in Red.
- 401 to 500: It will be marked as Severe and will be shown in Dark Red.
