What is RAW Image Format?

The RAW format captures all data from the camera's sensor without any processing or compression. It results in a larger file size and provides photographers with a lot of options for editing. Unlike standard photos, which are automatically adjusted for brightness and colour, RAW images retain all original data.

Third-party apps that want to use the camera on Android devices have two main ways to do this. They can either use the Android Camera2 API or the Jetpack CameraX library. According to reports, updates needed to allow these apps to support the RAW image format are currently being tested for the Jetpack CameraX library. Apple Starts Selling iPhone 16 Series Repair Parts, Now Available at Self Service Repair Store in Select Regions; Check Price and Other Details.

As per a report of Android Authority, Google is making changes to the Jetpack CameraX library so that more camera applications from different developers will be able to take RAW images.  Presently, only camera apps that utilize the Android Camera2 API are able to capture RAW images. At the moment, apps that rely on the Jetpack CameraX library, can only save their photos in the JPEG format.
