New Delhi, July 22: Google is reportedly testing a new feature in Gemini, which may include a new voice option for Android users. As per reports, the update will likely enhance the user experience by introducing a new female voice to Gemini. Since its launch, Gemini has been using a male voice to read out responses.
As per a report of 9to5google, Google Gemini, the AI chatbot, is getting better over time and Google is now testing a new voice for Android devices. The new voice is female and it might be a part of a test. Multiple reports suggest that the interesting thing is that this voice is automatically enabled without any action required from the user. During the I/O 2024 event, Google announced that Gemini Live would provide users with 10 different voices that will sound more natural. Google Assistant provides users with 12 voices, each identified by a colour name. It is anticipated that Gemini, the AI chatbot, will follow a similar approach. The new voice in Gemini is expected to be available for Android users, while the iOS app and web client will remain unchanged for now. Multiple reports also suggest that Google has started implementing the change in the Gemini app and is rolling out gradually and with some limitations. Additionally, the Google Gemini AI Assistant has gained a new capability. It can now answer questions and perform tasks on a locked Android phone, as per multiple reports. Even when the screen is off, the command "Hey Google" can be used to activate the assistant. The prompt will wake up the screen and show the Gemini AI interface and allowing the users with the option to continue using voice commands or by typing in their questions.
