The decision was communicated directly from Garena on September 4, just one day before the planned launch, citing the need for a more refined and locally tailored gaming experience.

In an official statement, Garena expressed its delight at the overwhelming enthusiasm from the Indian gaming community following the announcement of Free Fire India. Garena has opted to postpone the release by a few additional weeks to ensure a flawless and locally attuned launch. This delay is intended to allow further refinement of gameplay and the completion of a comprehensive localisation effort.
